Rock Climbing In Nicaragua
Rock Climbing is a new sport in Nicaragua and rarely practiced around here.
There is no better way to start your day than waking up around 5:30AM to witness sunrise above Laguna de Masaya (Masaya Lagoon) before heading down to the rock climbing spot. After sunrise, its time to get all your climbing gear ready for your adventure.
Once your day is over, it is time to go back to your camping spot, take a shower and prepare dinner before going to bed.
These images show some of the tutoring we provide to our members on how to use the climbing gear (e.g., helmet, harness, carabiners, rope and climbing shoes).
Bolting a Climbing Route
The first two climbing routEs were done during our first rock climbing workshop:
- LA ESCUELITA: It is an easy route suitable for begineers to practice rappel.
- LOS MARIBIOS: It is an easy route suitable for begineers suitable to practice basic techniques for rock climbing.
Our routes were created to practice and to provide training to all our members but everybody is welcome to use our routes.
A landscape view of how it looks when you are doing rock climbing or rappel
The first Rock Climbing Workshop in Nicaragua was on August 18th, 2017 by Club de Montañismo Los Maribios and ASAC Vertical. The members from Los Maribios had the opportunity to learn everything about safety and basic tecniques about rappel and rock climbing from our certified honduran instructor Roberto Zelaya.
If you are thinking on doing rock climbing, this is an excellent place and easy to reach where you will find 6 climbing routes for begineers. There are other routes in the north side of Nicaragua.
